It is also the species of the colorful kale variants that people use ornamentally. Outside this species in the same family ( Brassica ) you will find a wide array of edible plants, including mustards, radishes, and numerous other cabbage variants (with similar species clustering).
Zea mays cultivars are also quite varied, although their relationship is somewhat more obvious.
Another fun one is the Solanaceae family, which includes potatoes, tomatoes, chilies, tobacco, eggplant, nightshade, and quite a few other plants that might seem quite surprising...
